Mental Health Technician (MHT)
Responsibilities:
- Provide therapeutic support to psychiatric patients under direct supervision.
- Observe, encourage, and record patient activities and progress.
- Ensure patient safety by being vigilant and minimizing risks.
- Act as a professional role model and communicate effectively with the treatment team.
- Adjust therapeutic approach based on patient acuity, age, gender, and culture.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; preference for behavioral sciences degree or relevant coursework.
- Knowledge of psychotropic medications and cultural sensitivity.
- Adherence to program policies and procedures.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- CPR certification, annual skills verification, and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification.
Populations Served:
- Child (1-12 years), Adolescent (13-17 years), Adult (18-64 years), Geriatric (65+ years).
Essential Job Functions:
- Customer service, nursing services, and therapeutic milieu support.
- Safely perform vital signs, assist with personal hygiene, and accompany patients to medical appointments.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient records and adhere to patient rights.
Work Environment:
- Indoor climate-controlled environment with exposure to psychiatric patients.
- Physical requirements include sitting, stooping, standing, walking, and lifting up to 35 lbs.
- Ability to work outside of routine hours, including holidays and weekends.
