Inova Fairfax Hospital location is looking for a Mental Health Technician I to join our team of behavioral health professionals supporting our Comprehensive Addiction Treatment Services (CATS) Unit. This role is full-time and will work 3 12 hour night shifts/week working every other weekend and will provide assistance in the deliver of direct patient care implementing a plan of care to meet individualized and developmental patient care outcomes.

Job Responsibilities
- Provides basic activities of daily living nursing care while monitoring activity, sleep and intake/output; communicating patients' progress toward desired outcomes and changes to the Registered Nurse.
- Demonstrates competency in all required clinical skills and technologies, sharps maintenance, search and disposition of patient belongings, de-escalation and crisis prevention.
- Monitors patients/their environment and intervenes appropriately to promote a safe and therapeutic milieu.
- Completes forms and flow sheets accurately according to policies and procedures. Reinforces transition/discharge teaching and home care skills. Provides information to patients, families and visitors, orients patient to the unit and program, explains rationale for rules or restrictions, provides printed information.
Requirements:
- While experience is not required; 1 (one) year patient care experience is preferred
- Minimum of High School Diploma or GED BLS Certification by the American Heart Association upon hire
