YOUTH MOBILE CRISIS RESPONSE MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS RESPONDER
The Mental Health Crisis Responder works as a formal member of the Mobile Crisis Response Team, along with a licensed Team Lead and a Family Peer. The Mobile Crisis Response Team will deploy to calls around youth who are in crisis to de- escalate and support not only the individual in crisis, but also the family or natural supports.
The Mental Health Crisis Responder, under direction of a licensed Team Lead, will deploy with the Family Peer to where the youth is. The Mental Health Crisis Responder’s role is to serve the family and actively provide the Mobile Crisis Intervention using engagement, de- escalation, and crisis intervention techniques. The service will include the rapid crisis response with 72 hour follow up, along with brief community support for the following two weeks.
Essential Functions of Position:
· Be part of a mobile crisis response team deploying to youth in crisis within 1 hour inside Lafayette, or 2 hours within the outlying parishes in Acadiana
· Work within the team to provide the crisis response during the initial crisis, and provide follow up support for the next two weeks
· Engage in relationship building with designated individuals and families served by the team.
· Write notes, enter data, and review progress in accordance with documentation standards.
Qualifications:
· Must have Bachelor’s Degree or higher, in a social work/ services field . Master’s degree preferred
· Willingness and ability to serve youth and families who are in a state of crisis and respond in an empathic, calm and focused manner, use de-escalation and other skills within the crisis.
· Must be at least 24 years old
· Must successfully complete LDH/ OBH approved crisis response training, prior to deployments
· Must be able to pass a background check and have no findings on the State’s Adverse Action List and must not be excluded from participation in Medicaid/ Medicare program
· Must be able to pass a drug screen
· Must have a LA Driver’s License and reliable transportation

· Ability to function under pressure (keeping own emotions under control while assisting family members)
· Ability to be flexible, open and responsive to ongoing administrative changes, including being able to work independently
· Ability to articulate and communicate agency mission and strategic direction in a consistent and enthusiastic manner
· Solid understanding of Wraparound, Family Voice and Choice and recovery concepts
