This is a grant-funded position that is renewed on a year-to-year basis depending on available funding. The Mental Health Courtand Veterans Treatment Court Coordinator will assist in planning, coordinating and treatment for participants for the Macon-Bibb County Mental Health Court and Veterans Treatment Court. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Mental Health Court, Veterans Treatment Court, case management, treatment planning and performing additional tasks as assigned by the Judge and Director of Accountability Court.

- Develops and maintains network of referral and community relations, related to treatment and operation of Mental Health Court (MHC) and Veterans Treatment Court (VTC).
- Attends and participates in bi-weekly Specialty Court team meetings and status conferences as member of Mental Health Court and Veterans Treatment Court teams.
- Supervises Case Manager and any interns for MHC and VTC.
- Coordinate schedules of surveillance officers, drug testing, any vendors of Court and criminal justice and social work interns and assigned staff as appropriate.
- Assists with developing policy and the implementation of program goals, strategies and objectives as related to Mental Health Court and Veterans Treatment Court.
- Responsible for developing, monitoring, maintaining, and upgrading computer and technology systems for the program to ensure appropriate data tracking systems for reporting.
- Ensures program compliance with federal, state and local laws and county codes.
- Assists Director with program budget and planning.
- Answers telephone, records and distributes messages, and assists the general public for all issues related to MHC and VTC. Distributes Mental Health Court and Veterans Treatment Court calendars weekly to appropriate departments. Assists Director with budgeting for grant proposals and subsequent reporting.
- Provides risk assessments to program participants for case planning.
- Coordinates drug and alcohol tests, medication, and counseling sessions for participants.
- Consults with the other agencies and committees on a wide range of organizational and managerial issues to include Mental Health and Accountability Court efficiency, program compliance, program sustainability and internal and external quality assurance.
- Facilitate community presentations, promotes team integrity, develops community resources, monitors quality assurance, collects and analyzes data and works with evaluation agencies.
- Conduct and/or attend training and informational sessions for law enforcement, probation officers, attorneys and others on the terms of participation, program requirements and common issues associated with MHC and VTC candidates.
- Represents the Court at various community events and meetings that pertain to the work of the program.
- Tracks participant progress through the program, facilitates the participants' involvement in needed services, updates and maintains a paper and electronic filing system of participant clinical, progress, and financial data.
- Acts as a designated third-party representative or similar role for participants to assist in their applications for Social Security disability or similar services.
- Processes incoming mail, initiates and answers correspondence, types and files correspondence and administrative documents.
- Performs various routine clerical duties such as filing, copying, and sending faxes, etc.
- Creates and maintains files for Mental Health Court and Veterans Treatment Court participants.
- Researches information on inmates and offenders for potential participation in the program.
- Coordinates collection of resource data for MHC and VTC.
- Performs case management duties under the supervision of the presiding Judge of Mental Health Court and Veterans Treatment Court. Case management duties shall include, but not be limited to, handling a caseload that encompasses participants in the MHC and VCT programs.
- Prepares weekly summaries regarding each participant's progress in following through on case management services offered is provided to the MHC and VTC teams.
- Attends all required trainings for the Court as well as weekly team planning meetings and Court sessions.
Bachelor's degree in psychology, social services or related area and minimum of 2 years in a clinical or case management setting required or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. Master's degree, licensure or certification in clinical, substance abuse, evidence-based programming or court management field preferred. Excellent communication and writing skills essential. Current or prior military preferred. Must possess a valid Georgia Driver's license.
- Knowledge of the policies, procedures, and activities of the Macon-Bibb Judicial Circuit, Mental Health Court, and Veterans Treatment Court as they pertain to the performance of duties relating to the position.
- Knowledge of the Standards for Accountability Courts as developed by the Judicial Council of Georgia, Administrative Office of the Courts.
- Knowledge of all applicable laws, ordinances, policies, standards and regulations pertaining to the specific duties and responsibilities of the job.
- Knowledge of mental illness, treatment, addiction, alcoholism, pharmacology and cultural issues.
- Knowledge of legal documents, orders, sentence forms, court calendars and schedules, legal data including motions, orders, warrants, etc., and procedures and methods as required in the performance of duties.
- Skill in the use of software packages such as Microsoft Office, electronic mail programs, Clerk of Courts data system and jail system.
- Skill in the use office equipment such as computers, fax machines, copy machines, printers, etc.
- Ability to compile, organizes, prepare and maintain an assortment of records, reports and information in an effective manner and according to departmental and/or governmental regulations.
- Meets regularly with all participants under the case manager's care subject to specified minimum contact hours. Assures that the Court is well informed and that services remain uninterrupted if staff is unavailable.
- Conducts individual counseling and rehabilitative sessions with participants as needed.
- Meets with participants weekly or as directed by the court for a check-in and status review.
- Assists in the collection and maintenance of relevant participant data and demographic information. Such information may include history of compliance, referrals for other services, drug testing results, etc.
- Linkage and follow-up to ancillary support services for participants in an effort to coordinate the utilization of evidence-based community services such as health and Mental Health services, victims' services, disability housing, entitlements, transportation, education, vocational training, and job skills training and placement to provide a strong foundation for recovery.
- Perform administrative work such as data entry, filing, answering phones, copying, correspondence, etc.
