New Substance Use Disorder / Mental Health PHP/IOP is seeking a Trauma Therapist or Counselor with experience treating adults with Mental Health challenges and substance use disorders. Seeking therapists with credentials of LPC, LCSW, LMSW, APC. Seeking trauma informed therapist for outpatient therapeutic work.
Both Daytime and Evening hours available. This position would begin as PRN but quickly evolve into a full time role for the right candidate. There is plenty of room for growth. We are starting an evening IOP in addition to our daytime program so an evening position will be opening up very soon.
Job Summary:
The Primary Therapist will counsel individuals and groups to educate, impact and inspire our clients and their families to be the best versions of themselves through person centered therapy techniques that provide empathetic approaches to empower and motivate the individual towards personal growth and change.
● Maintain confidentiality of records relating to clients treatment.
● Guide clients in the development of skills and strategies to deal with their problems. Encourages clients to express their feelings and to discuss what is happening in their lives and helps them develop insight into themselves and their relationships.
● Provide psychological counseling to clients with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, mood disorders and other Mental Health issues.
● Conduct evaluations to assess client's needs, progress, and risk or re-traumatization.
● Develop individualized treatment plan for each client based on their needs.
● Conduct group therapy sessions for clients who have experienced similar traumatic events in order to help them come to terms with their experiences.
● Conduct individual therapy sessions with clients who are experiencing difficulties coping with trauma-related symptoms.
Required Skills/Abilities:
● Minimum of 1 year experience as a Therapist in a Substance Use Disorder Facility and/or Mental Health Facility.
● Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
● Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions, and for career counseling and guidance.
● Knowledge of group behavior and dynamics, societal trends and influences, human migrations, ethnicity, and cultures and their history and origins.
● Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
Education and Experience:
- A Masters degree in psychology, counseling or a related field required.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a trauma focused therapist role.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in the therapeutic care of Substance Use Disorder and Mental Health challenges is required.
- It's a major plus if you have previously worked as a Primary Therapist at another PHP/IOP program for Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders.
- Appropriate state credentials and licensing required.
- Experience with Kipu EMR is also a plus; however we are happy to train the right candidate.
Physical Requirements:
● Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
● Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
