Mental Health Counselor

As the Mental Health Counselor, you will be responsible for consulting with various departments as needed and providing clinical supervision to department trainees or interns. You will develop and present psychoeducational programs as assigned and be expected to document contact with students in a timely manner in the computerized documentation system. As the counselor you will provide crisis intervention for students, including answering phone calls. Responsibilities in this role will include participating in quarterly student orientations, maintaining a current personal schedule, and informing your supervisor of personal staff development needs. Additionally, as the counselor, you will participate in department performance improvement initiatives and prepare your own PRs for supervisor approval.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field
• Experience working with clients from a diverse background and a commitment to multicultural competence

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience and credentials as a clinical supervisor
• A minimum of two years' experience in counseling and higher education

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:

• Licensed in a Mental Health or counseling field or able to obtain license within two to four years

Travel Requirements: Less than 10%

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
