The individual in this position works under the supervision of a licensed psychiatrist and is responsible for coordinating the activities of social workers, psychologists, nurses, and various other professionals to ensure each patient's needs are met. This includes conducting interviews, preparing patients to receive care, inspecting facilities and monitoring patient progress. This individual should be interested in learning about Mental Health care practices and have strong communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Relate to clients and their family with personal warmth and empathetic attitude.
- Provide training to client in the use of psychiatric services and client rights; observe client; complete appropriate forms; ensure client's medical and psychiatric records are updated; oversee client's compliance with treatment plan.
- Conduct intake interviews and assess mental status, social history and physical condition of client.
- Provide education and information to persons, groups or other agencies on Mental Health, emotional disturbance or psychiatric disorders.
- Refer clients for additional evaluation or treatment.
- Help persons with emotional disturbances by providing support, encouragement, information or direction.
- Evaluate client's progress toward goals.
