Reports To: Lead Member Advocate

Job Description:
The Member Advocate I job is to welcome members to the branch, perform their financial transaction and guide them through a successful and rewarding experience. Takes ownership of every member every time and provides "Start to Finish" member service.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Actively supports and promotes Camino Federal Credit Union's brand, statement of purpose and strategies.
  • Greet and Welcome members to the credit union in a courteous, professional and timely manner, providing prompt, accurate, and efficient member transactions.
  • Engage the members by welcoming them with a warm friendly smile, pleasant demeanor, using the member name, and thanking them for doing business with Camino Federal credit Union.
  • Executes financial transactions in accordance with bank policies and procedures while maintaining an acceptable record in daily drawer balancing.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with Bank Secrecy Act regulations.
  • Listens carefully to the member and willingly assists with any questions or problems the member has
  • Makes sure all needs are met before concluding the transaction, making the member feel his/her time is being valued with banking with Camino.
  • Receive share drafts/checks and cash for deposit to accounts, verify amounts, examine share drafts/checks for proper endorsement, and enter deposits into computer records.
  • Responsible for meeting cash balancing standards established by Camino Federal Credit Union.
  • Effectively executes all service and referral routines to deepen member relationships.
  • Adheres to operational controls, including legal, corporate, and regulatory procedures to ensure the safety and security of customer and credit union assets.
  • Exhibits strong sales and service skills, presenting products and services while proactively educating members on utilizing available access channels. (ex: ATM, Online and Telephone Banking)
  • Continuously learns new and existing products through sales aids. (features, benefits, fees, etc.)
  • Is knowledgeable about the member's accounts the credit union and uses sound judgment with members and transactions.
  • Ensure station is properly stocked with supplies, brochures.
  • Advocate must complete Advocate I Certification Road Map prior to becoming a Member Advocate II
  • Other essential functions of the job may be assigned by your supervisor.

Educational Requirements:

  • High school diploma or its equivalent is required, and some college is preferred.

Skills Required:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks while under strict deadlines and constant interruptions.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule in order to attend training sessions that are held before or after regular retail hours.

Reasoning Requirements:

  • Ability to act in a discrete manner when dealing with sensitive membership information (loan denials, overdrawn accounts, etc.).
  • A high degree of reasoning ability and good judgment in setting priorities and carrying out duties with supervision.
  • Ability to make sound decisions regarding branch operations and member relations with confidence and firmness after assembling facts and weighing alternative solutions.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
