Puget Sound Spine and Sports Medicine is looking for a part-time Clinical Assistant to assist with both clinical and administrative duties within our practice. We are a single-physician Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation practice focused on providing excellent care to our patients and creating a positive, supportive environment for our employees. The ideal candidate would have prior experience in a clinical environment, but a Medical Assistant certification is not required. On-the-job training will be provided.
Qualifications:
- Must be eager to work in a dynamic environment and learn new skills.

- Must be a self-starter and able to take initiative.
- Must provide excellent customer service and possess strong interpersonal skills in person, over the phone, and via email.
- Proficiency with computers and Microsoft office programs.
Education and experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in a medical office setting is preferred (not required).
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
- Basic understanding of HIPAA practices.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring patients are checked in and roomed on time with paperwork completed.
- Completing patient check out process, to include scheduling and taking payments.
- Preparing for and assisting with clinical procedures.
- Ensuring exam rooms are clean and well-stocked; taking inventory of supplies on a regular basis.
- Once per week, ensuring laundry is washed, dried, and folded.
- Utilizing critical thinking to attend to patient questions and concerns, directing them to appropriate resource or escalating as needed.
- Reviewing and responding to incoming correspondence, including voicemails, emails, faxes, and other electronic communications.
- Contacting new and existing patients to schedule appointments.
- Submitting and following up on pre-authorization requests.
- Sending referrals to patients and/or outside offices; distributing chart notes as indicated/requested.
Other details:
- Part-time (15-20 hours per week)
- Must be able to work 3-4 days per week during our office hours (M-F, 8am-5pm)
- Exact schedule can be negotiated based on availability.
