Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $19.33 - Midpoint: $24.18 (Hourly N5)

Department/Organization: 208112 - CCHS Health IT

Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm; some evening/weekend hours as needed

Job Summary: The Medical Systems Support Technician provides comprehensive training and end user support in the use of health/patient care systems including clinical applications and custom applications software. Supports physicians, clinical and administrative staff, and learners in mastery of and efficient use of Health IT and related Medical Systems/applications to ensure accurate documentation and highest quality of patient care. Assesses skill levels of end users and advises on best practices and productivity as it relates to system workflows and operations. Develops training materials and delivers ongoing training for end users.

Additional Department Summary: The Medical Systems Support Technician provides comprehensive training and end user support in the use of health/patient care systems, including clinical applications and custom applications software for the College of Community Health Sciences (CCHS). Responsible for setup, modification, and maintenance in clinical applications. Supports physicians, clinical and administrative staff, and learners in mastery of and efficient use of Health IT and related Medical Systems/applications to ensure accurate documentation and highest quality of patient care. Assesses skill levels of end users and advises on best practices and productivity as it relates to system workflows and operations. Develops training materials and delivers ongoing training for end users via in-person sessions at all CCHS clinical sites and/or remote/distance learning events.

Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of medical IT systems technical support support experience; OR associates degree or higher and some medical IT systems technical support experience.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: NextGen NCP certification, or ability to complete certification requirements within 60 days of hire.
Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.

Skills and Knowledge: Broad understanding of systems training and development. Excellent communication, public relations, customer service, and public speaking skills. Skill in organizing work to achieve department goals and objectives. Aptitude and commitment to continued learning; willingness to obtain additional certifications as new systems or applications are implemented.
Ability to cope with stressful conditions. Ability to demonstrate tact, versatility, and adaptability. Ability to demonstrate a high degree of self-motivation and directional initiative. Skill in exercising initiative, judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making. Strong oral and written communication skills. Working knowledge of standard office software applications, including Microsoft Office. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of protected information and the requirement to follow HIPPA regulations at all times.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience with electronic health records systems and patient care applications preferred. Previous experience providing IT training/support for a healthcare/ambulatory multi-specialty medical facility preferred. Knowledge/practical experience in use of SnagIt, MS OneNote, Box, and/or other cloud-based content management, collaboration, and file sharing tools preferred.
