Position:Medical Surgical Technician
Location: New York, NY
Duration: 6 Months
Shift:
- Hours: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday
- Break: 30-minute break included
- Weekends and Holidays: Not required for this role
Job Summary:
The Medical Surgical Technician in the Women's Health Services Support Department is responsible for assisting healthcare providers in delivering comprehensive care to patients. This includes supporting family planning services, chaperoning patients, performing phlebotomy tasks, and providing medical assistance as needed. The Medical Surgical Technician must have previous medical assistant and phlebotomy experience and is preferred to have experience in women's health.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Support:
- Assist with family planning services, including education and counseling.
- Chaperone patients during exams and procedures as needed.
Medical Assistance:
- Perform phlebotomy tasks, including drawing blood and preparing samples for lab testing.
- Support healthcare providers with patient care tasks, including preparing patients for exams and procedures.
Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Ensure all documentation is completed in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to safety protocols, infection control measures, and privacy policies.
- Follow established procedures and guidelines for all tasks.
Equipment Maintenance:
- Assist in maintaining and sterilizing medical equipment and exam rooms.
- Report any equipment malfunctions promptly.
Required Credentials:
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED (required).
- Medical Assistant Certification (preferred).
Experience:
- Previous medical assistant experience (required).
- Previous phlebotomy experience (required).
- Experience in women's health (preferred).
