Job Description
Our partner based in Chicago, IL is currently seeking a qualified candidate for the remote role of Medical Stop Loss Underwriter II. This position requires a goal-oriented and analytical team player who can effectively engage with both internal and external stakeholders. The Underwriter II will play a crucial role in creating and reviewing reports, recommending cost-effective health plan offerings, and managing relationships with various vendor partners.
Responsibilities:- Develop an understanding of group Medical Stop Loss product offerings and fundamental underwriting principles.
- Review and prepare Minimum Essential Coverage (MEC) only and Tier 1 Renewals for marketing Stop Loss coverage.
- Price products and services appropriately.
- Prepare renewal reports for Stop Loss marketing and proposal presentations.
- Negotiate terms with Stop Loss carriers under the oversight of the Underwriter.
- Manage relationships with vendor partners, including Stop Loss vendors, UR/LCM vendors, and network vendors.
- Provide network analysis on new business prospects and renewals, collaborating with stop-loss partners.
- Assist Underwriter level and above with custom ad hoc analysis requests.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Proficient computer skills, including the full Microsoft Office Suite.
- Some experience with Microsoft Access is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work within a team and a collaborative environment.
- Ability to self-audit.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an analytical role (data analyst, financial analyst, business analyst, etc.).
- Medical Stop Loss Underwriting experience is a plus.
- Advanced Excel experience is required.
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Finance, or Business Management preferred.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to communicate via telephone.
