SalaryWhat is the role of a Medical Scribe? The scribe accompanies the physician during patient encounters and performs documentation in the electronic medical record on behalf of the physician. A scribe must be able to sort through past medical records to locate pertinent information in the patient record. All entered information is reviewed and signed off by the supervising provider.
Working as a Medical Scribe provides an individual with invaluable healthcare experience. Often, individuals work as Medical Scribes before applying to medical, PA or nursing school. This is an hourly position with week on week off alternating schedule. Position is 7 days a week on "on weeks" (Monday-Sunday) 7 am – 3 pm.
Qualifications:
Punctual, responsible, personable and a quick learner
Computer proficient with ample typing speed
Prefer 12 month commitment, but open to discussion based on grad school admission process
Have a background in healthcare
Working toward or already have a Bachelor’s degree
Have taken anatomy/physiology or medical terminology
Ability to listen to complex medical information and summarize in a clear, complete and concise fashion
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff and management
Electronic medical record and scribe experience preferred
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
