Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- One year clerical or office experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology
The Successful Candidate will assume responsibility for a variety of functions, which include, but are not limited to:
- Accompanies the physician to medical exams, and reports in writing the patient's history, medications, physical examination, and patient orders that result from the visit
- Records the results of ordered tests once returned by lab
- Completes the chart by writing the discharge and follow-up instructions
- Verifies the chart for appropriate coding level
- Reviews the chart and ensures it has been documented correctly for the designated code
- Ensures the physician reviews the chart for accuracy, Obtains physician's signature for each encounter
- Relays messages to the nursing staff, medical technicians, and/or the patient to expedite patient flow throughout the department
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
