JOB TITLE: Medical Records Technician
DEPARTMENT:Support Services
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for a variety of tasks in health information services such as; processing electronic and paper health information for the release of information.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)
- Responsible for extracting information for a medical record that is relevant for clinical care.
- Responsible for building the chart recommendation patient health profiles between EMR databases.
- Responds to requests from Clinical staff for charts or medical information.
- Understands and performs Release of Information requests, when necessary, per AHVI’s policies.
- Communicates general information regarding AHVI to outside physician offices and patients.
- Collects and distributes all incoming Medical Records, faxes and documentation incoming and within the organization to the appropriate team members or staff.
PAY RANGE: $19-22/hr to start (dependent upon experience)

EDUCATION:High School Diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of medical terminology.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Minimum of two years’ experience in Medical Records setting preferred.
2. Knowledge of medical terminology desirable.
3. Computer experience required.
