Job description
The appointment scheduler answers a multi-line phone system quickly and efficiently. Calls are directed to their destination, patient appointments are made, messages are created in EHR to be forwarded to the clinical department, appointment confirmation calls are made, appointment cancellations and reschedules are completed. Physician appointment templates are monitored and modified as needed.
Responsibilities
Greet telephone callers and find out the nature of their inquiry.
Receives calls, obtains name, determines nature of call and refers the call appropriately, entering required information into EHR template. Information collected must be clean, concise and useful.
Inputs patient information into practice management software and edits data as necessary when changes occur.
Operate telephone system to connect, hold, and transfer telephone calls.
Schedule, confirm, cancel and reschedule patient appointments.
Maintains electronic appointment schedule
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.(Obituaries, No show list, call confirmation list and incoming faxes)

9. Ability to document legibly and to spell medical and pharmaceutical terminology correctly.
10. Training in appropriate telephone operations.

Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
