Description
We are looking for an experienced Medical Office Specialist to join our dynamic healthcare team at our Cedar Valley Orthopedic Surgery Waterloo office. Qualified candidates must have the ability to multi-task, good communication skills, ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, and value team dynamics. Medical Office experience is helpful but not required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Answering call, as well as checking-in and assisting patients and visitors.
Scheduling and confirming appointments.
Obtaining and updating patients' personal and health records.
Maintaining electronic health records.
Managing inquiries and relaying messages about scheduling, referrals, and prescription refills.
Updating and verifying medical insurance information.
Collecting co-payments from patients.
Chart work up.
Working incoming referrals.
General office duties as assigned.

Requirements
A minimum of 2 years of experience or similar experience preferred.
Proficiency in integrated electronic health record and medical software is preferred but not required.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment.
Ability to answer calls, schedule appointments, obtain patient information, and relay messages.
Ability to use multiline phone.
General knowledge of computer and internet.
