Job Description Summary

Performs multiple duties in the Fast Flow Laboratory (Laboratory Support Services, Hematology and Chemistry) to include: 1. Pre-analytical processing of biological specimens for testing in the Fast Flow Lab. 2. Data entry of client demographic information and test orders into the laboratory computer system 3. Perform and interpret analysis on clinical specimens submitted for testing. 4. Performs quality control and maintenance procedures. 5. Evaluate new methodologies. 6. Train new personnel/students 7. Perform other duties as required.

Job Description

Performs a variety of routine and specialized diagnostic medical lab tests as requested by healthcare staff according to established protocols and procedures. Prepares specimens for microscopic examination or testing procedures. Operates automated laboratory instrumentation and equipment. Performs quality control and assurance procedures. Records lab results in specified system. Follows all required privacy, safety, and biohazard procedures and standards.

Additional Job Description

Minimum Requirements: An associate degree in clinical laboratory technology and certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or National Certifying agency (NCA).  If not certified, must be registry eligible and successfully obtain certification within the first year of employment.
