Under general supervision, performs laboratory testing and blood component preparation in the transfusion service to provide timely and accurate information for safe and effective transfusion. Testing will be performed on patients of the following age groups: premature infants, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, young, middle and older adults in all locations of the LCMHS system, as well as on referred specimens from outside locations; and samples from all classifications of blood donations. Maintains records of performance as defined in the transfusion medicine division procedure manuals.

Required Qualifications:
- Sufficient for license/certification.
- Upon hire: California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License California Or
- Upon hire: California Clinical Chemist Scientist License Or
- Upon hire: California Clinical Immunohematologist Scientist License Or
- Upon hire: California Clinical Microbiologist Scientist License Or
- Upon hire: California Clinical Toxicologist Scientist License Or
- Upon hire: California Clinical Cytogeneticist Scientist License Or
- Upon hire: California Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientist License Or
- Upon hire: California Clinical Hematology Scientist License Or
- Upon hire: California Clinical Histocompatibility Scientist License Or
- Upon hire: California Clinical Laboratory Scientist Biochemistry Special License
Preferred Qualifications:
- Upon hire: MT(ASCP) certification
- 1 year Experience in hospital-based blood bank.
- Experience with Misys Information Systems.
