South Texas Blood & Tissue Center (STBTC), a subsidiary of BioBridge Global, is a not-for-profit community blood center specializing in a variety of services to include providing blood, plasma, platelets and other blood components to numerous hospitals in 43 South Texas counties. STBTC is a community partner focused on enhancing health care through innovation and stewardship.

General Summary
Responsible for the development and strategic planning of a Medical Examiner & Funeral Home Development Program for the purpose of increasing opportunities for tissue recovery.
Serves as the primary liaison between STBT and Medical Examiners, Justices of the Peace, and Funeral Service Professionals within assigned service area.
Develops and maintains collaborative partnerships to improve communication, problem-solve, and formulate strategies to maximize tissue referrals, authorization, and recoveries. Supports and fosters the mission, vision, and core values of STBT and its commitment to tissue donation.

Support, communicate and reinforce the mission and vision of the enterprise.
Provide world class customer service by capturing and being responsive to the voice of the customer (internal or external, including donors for select positions) through multiple feedback channels in order to resolve issues and drive satisfaction in accordance with the BBG customer engagement, feedback, and complaint processes.
It is essential that the incumbent have a valid driver's license and be at least 18 years old with a good driving record to meet organization driving standards.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Tasks
In conjunction with department leadership, develop a strategic plan to establish deeper relationships with Funeral Homes, Medical Examiners, and justice of the peace officers to improve tissue donation outcomes by:
• lll Gaining an understanding of the needs and concerns of those stakeholders regarding tissue donation.
• lll Propose meaningful short and long-term solutions, including management of the necessary budget and
resources required.
• lll Lead the execution of the strategic plan and associated programs, continuously monitor, track, and assess the effectiveness, and make necessary adjustments as needed.
Develops and conducts education and awareness initiatives about tissue donation to educate targeted stakeholders, including but not limited to the following activities: engage stakeholders through attending events, conferences, and involvement with professional associations to drive advocacy and optimize opportunities.
Develops and updates policies and procedures relating to Medical Examiners/Justices of the Peace and related medical and legal issues.
Assists Funeral Homes with the development of policies to maximize donation, if needed.
Makes follow-up calls to Medical Examiners, Justices of the Peace, and Funeral Service professionals to discuss their experience with the tissue donation process.
Addresses questions and concerns and solicits recommendations about future donation opportunities.
Ensures seamless, comprehensive, and collaborative customer service through timely and ongoing communication, presence, and visibility.
Maintains on-call status to respond to requests/pages from tissue donor coordinators to contact funeral service professionals and/or Medical Examiners/Justices of the Peace by telephone, in real-time, to resolve immediate challenges related to ongoing or pending tissue donation cases.
Provides support, training, and assistance to tissue recovery staff to ensure tissue recoveries are performed to minimize visible changes to the body or delays in funeral arrangements and/or interference with autopsy investigations.
Submits routine reports to Tissue Partner Relations Manager with recommendations for improvements in the tissue donation process, based on feedback from funeral service professionals and Medical Examiners/Justices of the Peace.
Acts as liaison to help track and obtain autopsy reports for tissue donors to complete the donor chart.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
Requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university or Licensed Funeral Director.
Licenses and/or Certifications
Valid United States Driver's License
Current CTBS or must be obtained within one year of hire
Licensed Funeral Director preferred
Experience
Requires four or more years of experience in a Funeral Home or Medical Examiner's office (i.e.- autopsy technician, embalming technician, or funeral director) or as a Medical Examiner/Funeral Home Liaison. or similar role, at an organ procurement organization, tissue bank, or eye bank.
Knowledge
Must have knowledge of and ability to relate to Funeral Service professionals.
Must maintain knowledge of and perform according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies.
Must have knowledge of human anatomy and function required, preferably related to the processes required for funeral body preparation and/or autopsies.
Skills
Must be capable of operating motor vehicles in all types of weather conditions.
Must have sensitivity to grieving family members.
Must have excellent interpersonal and reasoning skills.
Must be skilled in data analysis.
Abilities
Must be able to keep information confidential.
Must be neat in appearance and well groomed.
Must be professional, detail oriented, self-motivated, innovative, creative, assertive, organized, communicative, and have the ability to work independently.
Working Environment
Works in a well-lighted, air conditioned and heated office.
May be exposed to electrical and chemical hazards and other conditions common to an office environment.
May be required to work at any time of the day, evening or night during the week or weekend.
Occasional out of town and overnight stays required.
Ability to use personal motor vehicle for company business required.
