Requirements of position

Education: MD degree, Florida Licensure Completion of ACGME (American Council of Graduate Medical Education) approved psychiatric residency program, Board Certified or Board eligible, Drug Enforcement Agency license
Experience: Minimum three (3) years in direct psychiatric service and one (1) year supervisory experience.
Knowledge: The American Psychological Association’s current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual. Have knowledge of the principles and practices of mental health counseling and crisis intervention.
Skills: Ability to work in multidisciplinary team environment. Ability to coordinate with a variety of Mental Health professionals. Be able to make rapid and accurate differential diagnosis efficiently. Work is performed with considerable independence and good judgment is critical. Be able to exhibit excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills, communication and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, police departments, adult living facility operators, families and other natural support systems, elected and appointed officials and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds regardless of race, religion, age, sex, disability or political affiliation. Display flexibility in adapting to changing conditions.
Requirements: Valid Florida driver license, (with clean record). Auto insurance coverage of at least $50,000/$100,000/$50,000.
Responsibilities of position

  1. Assure that all patients receive appropriate evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, medical screening, and medical/psychiatric evaluation whenever indicated.
  1. Assure that clinical staff receives appropriate clinical consultation.
  1. Supervise psychiatrists, APRNS, nurse supervisors, and residents/medical students assigned for training.
  1. Assure and coordinate with Branch Administrator/Director appropriate implementation of clinical staff development and staff training activities.
  1. Assure, through a multidisciplinary process, the appropriate privileging and regular performance review of all staff who report to this position.
  1. Provide direct psychiatric services.
  1. Be the liaison with community physicians, hospital staff, and other professionals and agencies with regard to psychiatric services.
  1. Develop and maintain, as necessary, all educational programs in concert with various medical schools and educational programs.
  1. Assure the quality of treatment and related services provided by the HBH’s professional staff, through participation (directly or by designee) in the HBH’s ongoing quality assurance, quality improvement, peer review, audit and policy development/review processes.
  1. Responsible for scheduling staff work hours to assure appropriate coverage for day, evening, weekend and holiday shifts and on-call hours.
  1. Conduct regular staff meetings.
  1. Review and authorize timesheets, leave requests and mileage logs within scheduled time periods.
  1. Lead and participate in psychiatrist and APRN recruitment, interviewing, hiring, orientation, work assignments, retention, evaluation and personal actions of staff in coordination with the Human Resource Department, according to work rules, regulations and policies.
  1. Identify needs for staff development, make recommendations for in-service training, provides documentation for all training for personal files, and makes recommendations for staff to attend educational sessions.
  1. The ability to produce, all appropriate paperwork and assigned reports (i.e. weekly, monthly, quarterly, or PRN) consistent with contractual, state or federal standards, and to prepare and submit such paperwork/reports on a timely basis.
  1. Monitor performance standards for clinical outcomes, documentation and productivity.
  1. Devise, amend and implement program rules and procedures in accordance with the agency rules and procedures.
  1. Maintain effective processes for meeting the needs of person-served with disabilities or special needs.
  1. Carry out and document quality-assurance activities and reviews of use of program services.
  1. Observe and comply with Regulatory Compliance Program.
  1. Maintain communication and share information with the Leadership Team regarding functioning of the program.
  1. Participate in assigned meetings.
  1. Collaborate with other managers and supervisors to standardize and improve person served care and program objectives/ goals.
  1. Attends training and in-service sessions as required.
  1. Abide by the Center’s Code of Conduct and Professional Conduct as found in the Employee handbook.
  1. Assist with Quality Improvement monitoring as requested or required. Ensures compliance with all policies and procedures including reviewing and revising.
  1. Assist the Chief Executive Officer in developing and maintaining budgetary guidelines; while ensuring adequate ordering and maintenance of supplies and forms.
  1. Performs other duties as assigned or required.
