MEDICAL DATA ENTRY CLERK

SUMMARY:

Medical Data Entry Clerks who will schedule appointments for Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) using appropriate guidelines to verify patient eligibility through Defense Enrollment Eligibility System (DEERS), and update patient demographics in the electronic health records (EHR) platform in use by the DoD.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare, compile and sort documents for Data Entry within a DoD approved EHR system.
• Manually enter data for patient data whose record transfer did not occur.
• Check source documents for accuracy within EHR.
• Verify data and correct data where necessary.
• Obtain further information for incomplete documents.
• Update data and delete unnecessary files.
• Ensure referrals are dispositioned.
• Manual entry of patient ancillary appointments.
• Combine and rearrange data from source documents where required.
• Enter data from source documents into prescribed computer database, files and forms.
• Transcribe information into required electronic format.
• Coordinate in a professional and courteous manner to resolve issues and concerns.
• Check completed work for accuracy.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.
• Will be required to complete assigned CBT's (Training)

SUPERVISOR/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

• This position will not have supervisory/management authority.

EDUCATON AND EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED and
• Minimum of 2 years Medical Data Entry work experience, including typing
• Military healthcare experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Excellent verbal and telephone communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Typing speed of 40 words per minute
• Excellent customer service skills

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

• Drug Screen/Background Check:
  • Must be able to successfully pass a Federal background check and drug screen.
• COVID:
  • Cherokee Federal employees are included as covered employees in U.S. Presidential Executive Order 14042, which mandates COVID vaccines for federal contractors.
  • Executive Order 14042 is currently blocked from enforcement pending court proceedings. Therefore, Cherokee Federal is halting the application of the mandate; however, if the injunction is lifted, Cherokee Federal will restore administration of the vaccine requirement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is primarily performed in a climate-controlled office setting.  Will also have 50-75% travel during peak projects.   

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $30/hour. This position is Full Time - Temporary
