Duties and responsibilities:
- Conduct timely audits of clinical documentation to ensure all guidelines are met.
- Serve as the recognized authority and primary information resource for the team.
- Conduct interviews and make strategic hiring decisions, acknowledge commendable performance, and address disciplinary matters with team members. Conduct performance reviews with new hires and annually and provide regular constructive feedback.
- Support staffing needs and implement alternative staffing within budget and in accordance with performance requirements.
- Lead team meetings to drive changes and trending areas of improvement.
- Personally undertake supervisory functions as needed.
- Review billing team’s daily work for accuracy and address inconsistencies.
- Review KPIs to identify areas for enhancement in the team’s performance.
- Advise staff on legal parameters for collections practices to ensure billing practices comply with company, local, state, and federal guidelines.
- Provide customer support for escalated inquiries or disputes related to patient care.
- Oversee training responsibilities for new and current staff and facilitate cross-training initiatives.
- Provide regular observations to the Director of Revenue Cycle Management to effectively support departmental standards.
- Collaborates with and supports internal and external billing departments.
- Additional related duties as assigned.
You will love it here if you have:
- CPC, CPC-P, CCS, RHIA or RHIT (with required years of experience) (Preferred).
- Minimum two years ASC coding and abstracting experience (Preferred).
- Familiarity with eClinicalWorks (Preferred).
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment, fostering positivity and adaptability to change.
- Multi-tasking with the ability to switch between clients and their specialties.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate in a dynamic healthcare environment.
We need you to have:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of three years of supervisory experience (Required).
- Must be knowledgeable in the laws affecting coding requirements and regulations to ensure compliance with federal and state regulatory bodies.
- Proficiency in using medical billing software and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Ability to communicate using medical/surgical terminology.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and Patient Right guidelines.
- High level knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD10 coding guidelines to include modifier usage.
Working conditions:
- Monday – Thursday 8:00 AM – 5 PM CST, Friday 8:00 AM – 2 PM CST. Some weekends may be required. Hours may vary based on department needs.
- Full-time On-site position within an office setting.
Physical requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
Supervisory requirements:
- Training all new hires assigned to your team.
- Overseeing and evaluating work assigned to your team.
- Reporting trends and issues to the RCM Management team.
- Collaborate with other department leaders to troubleshoot issues.
- Other supervisory requirements as assigned.
Travel:
- Some travel may be required.
