Responsibilities:

• Review medical records, encounter notes, and other documentation to accurately assign appropriate ICD-10 diagnosis codes and CPT/HCPCS procedure codes for Otolaryngology services.

• Optimize coding practices to maximize reimbursement and minimize claim denials. Ensure timely and accurate claim submission to facilitate prompt payment.

• Conduct regular audits of coded encounters to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with coding guidelines. Identify areas for improvement and provide feedback to clinical and billing teams.

• Resolve coding-related queries and discrepancies from billing staff, insurance companies, and regulatory agencies. Clarify documentation and coding issues as needed to support accurate reimbursement.

• Track trends, identify opportunities for improvement, and support decision-making.

• Collaborate with healthcare providers and billing staff to resolve coding-related issues and discrepancies.

• Perform other coding-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), required. Preference for specialization in Otolaryngology coding (CPC-O).

• A minimum of 2 years of recent experience in medical coding, required. Experience in Otolaryngology coding preferred.

• Proficiency in ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems, as well as knowledge of coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.

• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex medical documentation.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare providers and colleagues.

• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

• Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Medical Coding, Healthcare Administration, or related field (preferred).

ONSITE | Monday to Friday | 8am -5pm
