Responsibilities:
Review medical records, encounter notes, and other documentation to accurately assign appropriate ICD-10 diagnosis codes and CPT/HCPCS procedure codes for Otolaryngology services.
Optimize coding practices to maximize reimbursement and minimize claim denials. Ensure timely and accurate claim submission to facilitate prompt payment.
Conduct regular audits of coded encounters to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with coding guidelines. Identify areas for improvement and provide feedback to clinical and billing teams.
Resolve coding-related queries and discrepancies from billing staff, insurance companies, and regulatory agencies. Clarify documentation and coding issues as needed to support accurate reimbursement.
Track trends, identify opportunities for improvement, and support decision-making.
Collaborate with healthcare providers and billing staff to resolve coding-related issues and discrepancies.
Perform other coding-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), required. Preference for specialization in Otolaryngology coding (CPC-O).
A minimum of 2 years of recent experience in medical coding, required. Experience in Otolaryngology coding preferred.
Proficiency in ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems, as well as knowledge of coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex medical documentation.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare providers and colleagues.
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Medical Coding, Healthcare Administration, or related field (preferred).
ONSITE | Monday to Friday | 8am -5pm

Pay Details: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour
