Duties of this position include:

• Perform or assist in detailed monthly patient billing:
  • Inclusive of Medicare, Medicaid and Commercial for inpatient claims, as well as multiple payers for Durable Medical Equipment (DME).
  • Inclusive of secondary and tertiary claims
• Ensure and maintain compliance within payer guidelines
• Gather, review for completeness, and reconcile front end denials before claims transmission to clearinghouse
• Work daily inpatient & DME claims: billed claim follow-up, billing stops, CMN (Certificates of Medical Necessity) follow-up, denials, expired prior authorizations, timely filing, and unapplied payments
• Maintains appropriate accounts receivable reporting and performs follow up with claims for collection, current status and denials
• Researches and responds to inquires regarding billing issues or problems
• Communicates with Revenue Cycle Manager on status of claims, including denials and payments on a frequent basis
• Performs insurance eligibility verification and communicates changes, as directed.
• Assists with audits and related documentation requests
• Develops and fosters a collaborative working relationship with other departments and team members throughout the organization
• Participates in Finance department staff meetings and professional growth training opportunities
• Performs other related job duties and special projects, as assigned.
