Medical Billing Supervisor

Summary:

The Orthopedic Billing Supervisor oversees and manages the billing operations for the orthopedic department, ensuring accurate and timely processing of claims. The ideal candidate should be proficient in EPIC and possess extensive knowledge of WebPT billing processes. The Orthopedic Billing Supervisor will lead a team of billing specialists, monitor key performance indicators, and collaborate with various stakeholders to optimize revenue cycle processes.

Responsibilities:

1. Supervision and Leadership:

   • Lead and manage the orthopedic billing team, providing guidance, training, and support.
   • Conduct regular performance evaluations and implement improvement plans as needed.
   • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment within the billing team.

2. EPIC Proficiency:

   • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in EPIC billing modules.
   • Oversee EPIC billing processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry regulations.
   • Stay updated on EPIC system updates and enhancements relevant to orthopedic billing.

3. WebPT Billing Expertise:

   • Possess in-depth knowledge of WebPT billing workflows and best practices.
   • Collaborate with the orthopedic department to ensure seamless integration of WebPT billing data into the overall revenue cycle.

4. Claims Processing:

   • Oversee the timely submission of accurate claims to insurance providers.
   • Investigate and resolve claim rejections or denials, implementing corrective measures to prevent reoccurrence.
   • Monitor and analyze claim acceptance rates and identify opportunities for improvement.

5. Revenue Cycle Optimization:

   • Work closely with the Revenue Cycle Management team to identify and implement strategies to enhance revenue generation.
   • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with coding and billing guidelines.
   • Collaborate with the coding team to address coding-related issues impacting billing.

6. Collaboration:

   • Build effective working relationships with orthopedic providers, clinicians, and other relevant departments.
   • Collaborate with IT and EPIC support to address system issues and optimize billing workflows.

7. Reporting:

   • Generate and analyze regular reports on key performance indicators, presenting findings to upper management.
   • Implement data-driven strategies to improve billing efficiency and reduce errors.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years experience in Medical Billing, with a focus on orthopedics.
• Proficient in EPIC billing modules.
• Extensive knowledge of WebPT billing processes.
• Strong understanding of medical coding and billing regulations.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Certifications:

• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or related certifications.
