OB-GYN Medical Biller
The Medical Biller reports to the Site Manager. The Medical Biller will be expected to perform timely billing of clinical services rendered such as examinations, treatments and procedures to patients and insurance carriers.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Resubmittal of corrected claims as well as follow up on unpaid claims
- Provide a positive patient experience
- Coordinate with staff to ensure proper verification of benefits for in office procedures are accurate and appropriate collection of co-pays and self-pay fees
- Ensures front desk staff is aware of monies owed to the practice and collects upon patient arrival
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Ensures coding in compliant and up to date
- Posts adjustments, transfer of responsibility and refunds, as necessary

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Education: High School diploma or equivalent
- Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding systems, eCW EMR
- Pervious medical billing experience: knowledge of billing related reporting
- Experience working with Medicaid (including state eligibility system) and commercial insurance
- Preference will be given for previous experience in OB/GYN billing & coding
SKILLS:
- Knowledge of third-party insurance plan types: HMO, PPO, POS, and Indemnity.
- Knowledge of the Medicare and Medicaid Programs (CMS) particularly as it relates to CPT procedures and ICD-9/ICD-10 diagnostic coding.
- Thorough knowledge of Medicare Fraud and Abuse regulations.
- Functional knowledge and understanding of the mechanisms of Electronic Medical Records (EHR) and Physician Billing Systems (PB).
- Possess full knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
