Position Summary/Essential Functions
Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff, employers, insurance companies, and ancillary departments and assist in patient care.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
➢ Communication • Initiates and maintains accurate, courteous and prompt communication with patients, family, insurance carriers, medical providers and ancillary departments. • Accurately documents all communications. ➢ Insurance verification • Obtains and/or updates insurance billing information. Verifies insurance. ➢ Authorizations • Obtains authorization from insurance companies as appropriate. ➢ HIPPA • All staff must maintain patient privacy in accordance with HIPPA. Please read and refer to http://www.hhs.gov/ocr/AdminsimpRegText.pdf ➢ Patient Coordination • Take vitals and document the information. • Describe chief issue with patient accurately and conduct further assessments according to individual physician/provider expectation. • Update patient's chart and verify demographic information, medications, allergies, etc. • Prepare the patient and instrumentation necessary for the exam and instruct them for disrobing if necessary. • Prepare equipment, instruments, and supplies to ensure that when the physician enters, they can efficiently care for that patient. • Maintain patient flow and assist with evaluating the needs of arriving patients or walk-ins. ➢ Physician Assisting • Give patients educational materials and instructions as appropriate. • Gather and communicate lab results as directed by the physician. • Schedule and coordinate any specialist appointments needed. • Maintain follow up on diagnostic test results and referrals. • Facilitate the processing of prescriptions, document in medical record per Clinic protocol as directed by the provider. ➢ Clinical Duties • Triage patients. • Administer medications as ordered. • Phlebotomy • Assist with procedures as ordered. • Perform 12 lead EKG. • Ensure efficient flow throughout patient visit. ➢ Other Duties o Any other duties assigned by management. ➢ Limited Scope X-Ray Functions (X-Ray Techs Only) • Explain to the patient the procedure and ensure their understanding. • Assist the patient in preparing for the exam (positioning). • Provide reassurance and support throughout procedure. • Maintain X-Ray safety protocols and standards. • Perform imaging tests as ordered. • Ensure that test and imaging quality is optimal so that provider can properly make a diagnosis. ➢ Billing • Facilitate efficient billing process. ➢ Clinic maintenance • Ensure that the front office, patient care area, bathrooms and waiting room are safe and properly maintained. ➢ Supplies • Ensures adequate office and medical supplies are in stock. Stock supplies as needed. All supply or medication orders must be authorized by management. ➢ Computer, phone and fax use are for business purposes only. Personal use is prohibited unless authorized by management. ➢ Use of personal cell phones during working hours is prohibited, unless it is an emergency.
Minimum Requirements ➢ High school diploma or equivalent ➢ Current Limited X-Ray certificate (X-Ray Techs only) ➢ Digital Radiography certificate (X-Ray Techs only) ➢ Medical Assistant Certification ➢ Typing skills and basic computer skills ➢ Working knowledge of medical terminology ➢ CPR Certification Other Preferred Skills ➢ Bilingual/ Spanish Speaking ➢ ACLS certified Physical Requirements ➢ Ability to sit, stand or walk up to 12 hours a day. ➢ Ability to stoop, kneel, squat frequently during the day. ➢ Ability to type and write up to 12 hours a day. ➢ Ability to lift, push, pull 20 pounds continuously. ➢ Ability to lift, push, pull up to 60 pounds occasionally. ➢ Employees will have pre-employment physicals. ➢ Employees may be required to have a fit–for–duty or return–to–duty physical exam if absent for personal physical injuries.
