Job description


THe Medical Assistant/Medical Group Scheduler provides routine coverage of front and back office. Clerical functions include scheduling. Also provides primary support to the provider by preparing the patient for the visit. Will also maintain efficient patient flow and assist the provider with treatments and procedures, as well as perform activities to maintain a clean, stocked, safe, and well-organized patient care environment. As needed, this position supports the clinical team by providing patient care in the ambulatory care setting according to established standards of care, in collaboration with Care Managers and Medical Providers as members of the primary care team

  • High schooEducation: High School Diploma/GED required
  • Specialized training in clinical medical skills from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • 2 years experience (ambulatory care preferred)


 

 


  • Facilitates the customer discharge (check out) process.
  • Answer telephones, takes complete and accurate message and relays information to appropriate party to support operational aspects of patient care
  • Maintains supplies and equipment for department
  • Maintains and fosters effective customer relations with patients, providers and the public by listening, responding, and documenting customer phone and walk-in inquiries and complaints.
  • Attempts to resolve complaints in the moment and enters complaints/compliments into Advocate.
  • Schedules patient appointments according to guidelines by providing documentation of scheduled appointments, procedural instructions and location directions.
  • Works in collaboration with Triage Nurse and Providers to monitor daily patient schedule and identify no shows for rescheduling. Places reminder calls to patients.
  • Executes the process necessary to support referrals and authorizations for procedures and medications. This requires interaction with insurance companies and communication with the patients; Supports the accurate and timely compilation and maintenance of medical record documentation for other physician inquiries.
  • Will assign and assist with patient preparation/rooming patients, as directed by visit plan.
  • Performs lab procedures, as ordered by Medical Provider or as directed by visit plan.
  • Assists Medical Providers with procedures.
  • Documents on medical record within scope of practice
  • Assists in screening of patients, in collaboration with Care Manager.
  • Interacts effectively with customers, providing instructions and information, both written and verbal, as appropriate.
  • Maintains established practice policies and procedures, objectives, quality program, safety, environment and infection control standards.
  • Seeks help, communicates and cooperates with Medical Provider and team appropriately.
  • Attends monthly meetings.
  • Participate in Process Improvement Teams
  • May be responsible for opening and distributing mail.
  • Assist with orientation of new staff and providers.
  • Performs other functions as required.

The compensation range for this role takes into account a wide range of factors, including but not limited to experience and training, internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each offer.
