Loudoun Medical Group (LMG), one of the largest and most diverse physician-owned, multi-specialty group practices in Northern Virginia, has an exciting employment opportunity for an experienced LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) or certified Medical Assistant to support a busy Gynecology practice in Reston, VA.
General responsibilities include:
- Assisting Physician/Midlevel Provider with clinical procedures
- Obtaining patient vital signs and other medical history
- Assisting physician/midlevel provider with general patient care and medical coding
- Cleaning and stocking exam rooms
- Assists the providers in providing comprehensive medical care to targeted patient population in the ambulatory clinic setting by:
Job Requirements:
General Duties
· Assist physicians with patients as needed or when short staff.
· Call patients regarding non- urgent lab/radiology results daily within 24 hours.
· Call patients regarding urgent lab/radiology results daily within 1 hour.
· Follow up with prior authorization on medications within 24 hours.
· Must reply to urgent ECW telephone encounters prior to departing and non-urgent telephone encounters within 24 hours.
· Complete FMLA forms within 5 business days.
· Assist with IUD/ Nexplanon ordering/PA’s/Inquiries.
· Attend to patient for all nurse visit/add orders the day before: labs, urinalysis, administration of injections, etc.
· Assist MA’s, physicians, and nurses with same day appointments.
· Communicate with drug representatives on new products or new SOP.
· Update/Manage genetic testing kits/requisitions. Ensure we’re fully stocked and up to date with current prices (in network/out of network).
· Assist Dr, Hersh with Mona Lisa treatment (separate location).
· Assess, plan, organize, coordinate clinical needs for the office.
· Manage Fax Inbox
· Manage ECW E-prescriptions.
· Maintain literature and brochure stock.
· Assist providers when floor nurse unavailable or at lunch.
· Accept triage/ urgent patients phone calls, inquiries and address it to the provider. Document in patient charts.
· Respond to non-urgent telephone encounters within 24 hours.
· Respond to urgent telephone encounters immediately.
· Maintain and manage pap/Colpo recall book and appointment recalls.
· Fax Preoperative orders and labs to RHC.
· Call in/E-prescribe prescriptions as directed by providers.
· Return patient phone calls as directed by providers.
· Manage and order clinical supplies as needed.
- Must possess exceptional customer service skills
- Must have strong clinical skills including performing blood draws
- Must be able to work independently and on a team
- Must have problem solving skills
- EMR experience preferred (Pulse and/or ECW)
- Experience with inventory/stocking medical supplies
- Professional demeanor
- Bi-lingual not required but a plus
- Preparing the patient for the medical examination.
- Prepping EMR chart for providers
- Performing screening activities appropriate to patient population.
- Performing assigned clinical tasks and/or procedures.
- Cleaning/Autoclave duties assigned
- Assisting with scheduling follow-up appointments and activities as recommended by the providers.
- Performs clinical tasks and/or procedures appropriate to targeted patient population under the delegation and supervision of a licensed physician or mid-level.
- Immediately notifies physician or other licensed health care provider of patients observed to be in distress.
- Documents all care given and actions taken on behalf of the patient of VWHA.
- Facilitates smooth and efficient operation of the clinical department by monitoring the flow of patients and intervening as appropriate to minimize wait times and promote a positive experience for the patient.
- Assists with inventory and requisition of required supplies; keeps exam and procedure rooms adequately stocked at all times.
- Engages in positive interactions with VWHA members, visitors and fellow staff members at all times.
Phone Work
- Call in or process prescription request as directed by the physician
- Triage phone calls, trouble shoot general patient and office needs
- Return patient phone calls as directed by the physician
- Process patient calls throughout the day
- Fax complete and accurate H&P's records to hospital as per protocol
- Call patients with lab and radiology results
- Process messages from patient’s portal
- Call Fed-Ex for pick-ups before noon
- Process Labs and Patient Documents via EMR in a timely fashion
- Import and assign documents through Fax Inbox every morning and throughout the day
Performs other duties as assigned.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
