The Opportunity:
THIS WORK MATTERS!
The Medical Assistant- Mobile Clinic Vanwill work collaboratively with an integrated care team in a Mobile Clinic setting to provide medical and dental services to houseless and migrant/seasonal farmworker populations. This Medical Assistant is responsible for administrative and clinical support in the form of reception duties, medical/dental assistant duties, assisting a Dental Hygienist, and care coordination duties shared with a multidisciplinary team. This position helps create a culture of respect, trust, and understanding for the highly diverse populations the Health Department serves in the office and in the community.
*This is an Open Until Filled position*
Schedule:
During the Training period-
  • Monday-Friday, 8 am-5 pm

Once Mobile Clinic is functional-
  • 4 days a week, 10 hours/day, with 2 late days and 2 early days.
  • Mondays and Tuesdays - late days, 9:30 am - 8:00 pm
  • Wednesdays and Thursdays - early days, 7:30 am - 6 pm

As the Medical Assistant - Mobile Clinic Van, duties will include:
Medical and Dental Support
  • Monitors exam spaces, provides reusable equipment sterilization and surface disinfection with appropriate documentation, orders, and stocks medical supplies.
  • Monitors vaccine inventory, storage, and order.
  • Supports back office clinic flow on behalf of patients.
  • Assists dental providers with chairside support for efficient dental care to patients.
  • Rooms patient for visits.
  • Forecasts and administers immunizations and approved injections.
  • Performs phlebotomy and venipuncture.

Reception Duties and Care Coordination
  • Maintains patient charts and medical records.
  • Verifies eligibility for insurance assistance or sliding fee scale.
  • Returns calls/messages to patients to resolve or to obtain more information
  • Communicates normal lab results.

Operation Setup and Driver Functions
  • Secures equipment and supplies for transport.
  • Ability to drive 38' RV mobile medical unit to identified community partners/locations on a regular or fill-in basis. We are focused on responsible and safe driving practices for mobile RVs. Most of the staff on the mobile van will be asked to drive when needed.

*As the mobile program matures, you will need to go through internal training to be dental radiology certified*
Required Professional Licensures and Certifications:-
  • BLS CPR Certification
  • Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, RMA, NCMA, or CCMA)
  • Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:-
  • Preferred: Spanish/English language skills

Required Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills:
  • Education/Experience/Training: Requires graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
  • Certification:Certification through a nationally recognizedMedical Assistant certification program, such as AAMA, AMT, NCCT, or CCMA, is required.
  • CPR certification is required (valid CPR certification must be provided upon hire)

Other: Depending upon assignment, candidates may be required to pass a criminal background check, including fingerprinting.
