Responsibilities
- Perform all duties within HIPAA regulations
- Adheres to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements
- Ensure efficient patient flow during clinic
- Perform basic medical procedures such as taking vital signs, recording their medical history, administering medications, and assisting with minor surgical procedures
- Interview and prepare patients for examinations and assist healthcare providers during patient visits
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical history, symptoms, and treatment plans
- Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt
- Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs
- Provide excellent patient service by addressing inquiries, scheduling appointments, and ensuring a comfortable and welcoming environment
- Obtain the proper prior authorizations for diagnostic testing/imaging and medications as required
- Sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure seamless communication
- Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations
Skills
- Proficiency in Google Drive
- Hands-on experience with office equipment (e.g. fax machines and printers)
- Professional attitude and appearance
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with patients, healthcare providers, and other staff members
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
- Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
- Customer service attitude and be able to provide exceptional service to both patient and physician
- High school degree; additional certification in Medical Assistant is a plus
- Basic life support (BLS) certification
- Previous EMR experience is a plus
