Medical Assistant

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our clinic team that has excellent communication and interpersonal skills. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting the overall operations of our medical office. Our office has a smaller staff that likes to have fun and places patient care and our employees as our top priorities and is looking for a candidate who is both reliable and dependable.

Responsibilities

• Perform all duties within HIPAA regulations
• Adheres to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements
• Ensure efficient patient flow during clinic
• Perform basic medical procedures such as taking vital signs, recording their medical history, administering medications, and assisting with minor surgical procedures
• Interview and prepare patients for examinations and assist healthcare providers during patient visits
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical history, symptoms, and treatment plans
• Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt
• Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs
• Provide excellent patient service by addressing inquiries, scheduling appointments, and ensuring a comfortable and welcoming environment
• Obtain the proper prior authorizations for diagnostic testing/imaging and medications as required
• Sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure seamless communication
• Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations

Skills

• Proficiency in Google Drive
• Hands-on experience with office equipment (e.g. fax machines and printers)
• Professional attitude and appearance
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with patients, healthcare providers, and other staff members
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
• Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
• Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
• Customer service attitude and be able to provide exceptional service to both patient and physician
• High school degree; additional certification in Medical Assistant is a plus
• Basic life support (BLS) certification
• Previous EMR experience is a plus
