SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None.
SUMMARY
Responsible for gathering, recording, scanning and charting patient vitals in the practice management and electronic health records system. Responsible for providing basic laboratory screening, maintaining laboratory records, collecting and submitting laboratory specimens, performing venipunctures, and assisting with exam room preparation, equipment and supplies, and maintaining medical supply inventories.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide basic laboratory screening, which includes measurements of height, weight, blood pressure, hemoglobin test, urine test, pregnancy test, U.A. Dipstix, and obtain blood specimen through venipuncture and records information on patients’ charts in the practice management and electronic health records system.
Prepare accurate laboratory slips for test to be done on patients.
Performs data entry of laboratory test results and contact patients to schedule appointments to meet with providers.
Cleans and sterilizes instruments.
Cleans and prepares examination room with necessary tests to be done for each patient.
Prepares patients for exams and assists in exam room when needed.
Collects all laboratory specimen records in appropriate lab book and submits correct laboratory slips along with specimens to correct labs.
Screens patient medical history for documentation of pertinent information.
Keys data into computer to maintain office and patient records.
Prepares charts, pulls charts, transfer reports and send referral forms to other providers for other clinical care.
Interprets and translates for patients, as needed.
Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials.
Attends training and/or meetings as designated.
Travels for agency business using personal/agency vehicle.
Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
Works evenings and weekends as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:
High school diploma or GED.
Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant school or one year experience in a clinical setting as a Medical Assistant.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 2 years of related experience.
Minimum of 2 years related work experience, preferably in the human service field, demonstrating the ability to perform the essential functions of this job.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Medical Assistant Certificate required.
Knowledge of medical terminology and front office experience preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related business software. Ability to accurately type 40 words per minute.
Effective presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
Bilingual English/Spanish or other secondary language preferred based on the needs of the clients and the program.
CPR and First Aid Certified.
Willing to work non-traditional hours and days to meet the needs of this position.
Ability to work well with youth/teens and diverse population, and with contracted service providers and representatives of partnering agencies.
Maintain a valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, and adequate auto insurance as required by State law.
