Medical Assistant / Coding

QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a Medical Assisting program with coursework in Medical Coding. Certification preferred. This person will possess a literacy standard that includes the ability to read proficiently and write legibly with proper grammar and syntax, in addition to knowledge of psychiatric vocabulary and medical terminology. This person must have good typing skills and be proficient with commonly used computer software and electronic medical records. This position will work closely with the outpatient team to assist with medical case management, coding and taking basic vitals for the psychiatrists.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Responsible for the facilitation of efficient provision of services in the Medical Department.
2. Responsible for taking and recording vitals and providing education about mental illness and medications.

1. Secures authorizations for medications, completes medically required paperwork, and tracks attendance.

1. Completes medical coding and approving of medical visits for billing.

1. Provides coverage for the R.N.in her absence: providing assistance to the physicians with consumer management and medical calls.

1. Back-up for the Intake Worker, as needed.

Provides service connection and referral for patients

1. Attends mandatory programming and agency training
2. Assists with completing Abatements.

1. Coordinates the monthly medical department meeting.

1. Assists with entering the Drug and Alcohol information into the WITS (Web Infrastructure for Treatment Services) system.

1. Travels to the Greenville location as needed for taking and recording of vitals.

1. Maintains and upholds Community Counseling Center's policies, respects confidentiality, and exhibits a professional demeanor at all times while at work.

1. Any violation of policies and procedures/job duties will be subject to disciplinary action.

1. Performs other duties as assigned.

1. Can perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodations, if necessary.

1. Participates in CCC CQI plan to ensure quality of service to CCC consumers.
