The Position
This position works with the Behavioral Health team under the direction of the Director, Behavioral Health. In this role, you will support the Behavioral Health Reception, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners and the patients that engage in Behavioral Health services. Primary responsibilities would be support of the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner appointments: taking vitals, medication reconciliation, documenting side effects and refill status, etc but also assisting with various administrative responsibilities in support of Behavioral Health Coordinator. This position is Full-Time Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM.
Essential Functions
The MA maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment. The MA organizes and performs patient care services that support the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner practice. This includes assisting in preparing patients for appointments, relaying instructions from the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to the patient or authorized person, collecting patient data in person and by phone and documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner’s review, performing vital sign documentation, scheduling of appointments and procedures, complete and accurate message taking, routing messages to the appropriate area for direction, order and referral entry, acquisition of pre-certifications and basic registration and updating of demographics.
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program and Certified Medical Assistant
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers
- One year working as Certified MA in ambulatory setting One year laboratory experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a Behavioral Health setting
- Experience working with Native American population
- A clerical or administrative support background
- Must have excellent time management skills, be highly organized, self-motivated.
- Maintain a high level of productivity and confidentiality.
- Strong knowledge of computer-based systems and EMR such as eClinicalWorks, Excel, Word, and the Internet with the ability to quickly learn new systems.
- The ability to follow through timely on tasks is essential.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with people of diverse cultural, educational, economical, and social backgrounds.
