Workers First is a small clinic in Virginia Beach, VA.
WorkersFirst is a concierge occupational medical practice. Concierge in medicine means we offer an efficient, high quality medical service. A higher level of customer service than traditional medical practices. This excellent customer service is expected from our clinical staff. We expect this model to be rewarding and we hope our staff will get to know patients, clients, and we encourage engaging in those sociable conversations with the patients. Clinical staff will also work closely with our providers allowing for mentorship. We are looking for team members with solid clinical skills. Must have helpful attitude and impeccable customer service skills so we can make our clients feel like they are the only client we have in every interaction. Will train the right candidates on necessary skills.
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to fill a position as a Medical Assistant. The ideal candidate has prior experience in occupational medicine and key responsibilities include helping doctors and nurses with the treatment of patients and some minor administrative duties. We are looking for someone who enjoys working in a team environment, has excellent interpersonal skills and is motivated to provide the highest quality of care possible to our patients.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work one-on-one with patients and providers
- Intake patients and deliver routine medical care
- Use of electronic medical record
- Drug screens, injections, EKGs, vitals, phlebotomy, rooming patients, and much more.
- Greet patients, verify identity and patient information, obtain medical history
- Prepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and performing all required testing
- Provide assistance to providers during examinations and treatment
- Perform ancillary testing and tasks as directed by the Medical Director (including but not limited to PFT, EKG, injections, audiograms, blood draws, etc.)
- Performs DOT and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing
- Wound care, splinting, apply DME
- Reinforce discharge and follow up instructions
- Some front office duties as you will be cross trained to complete and front office duties including greeting patients, obtaining authorization, check in/out, communication of wait times, etc.
Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Certified Medical Assistant helpful but not required or EMT or military medical specialist with current credentials in the state of employment
- Will consider LPN, nurses aid, EMT, or corpsman
- Up to date BLS certification
- Ability to physically and emotionally work effectively with team in a dynamic, clinical office environment
- This job requires access to confidential and sensitive information, requiring ongoing discretion and secure information management.

Clinical specific skills for back office
- Anticipate provider needs in clinical setting
- Performs general clinical duties to include, but not limited to:
- Taking vital signs
- Rooming
- Brief medical history
- Medical history including date of injury, mechanism, medications, surgeries Injections under provider supervision
- Triage, notify providers and managers of abnormalities problems.
- Venipuncture
- Occupational Medicine Testing to include UDS, BAT, Various Employer Physicals, Spirometry, and Audiometry
- Complete all forms related to Occupational health and Work’s Comp patient visits
- Snellen Eye Chart
- CLIA Waived Lab Testing
- Orthopedic Splinting
- Bandaging (without packing)
- Set up and Chaperone (if needed) during procedures/exams (laceration repairs)
- Calling 911 and transfer process
- Hazardous Waste Disposal
- Exam Room Turnover
- EKG
- Ear Lavage
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $15.00 - $22.00 per hour
