Medical Assistant – Part-to-Full Time:

Our multi-specialty medical group practice is seeking part-time Medical Assistants to work in our San Diego area clinic providing support to our general dermatologists and dermatological surgeons. Applicants must have at least three years of dermatology experience as Medical Assistants and be EMR and computer literate, detail oriented, dependable, punctual and able to function professionally within a fast-paced environment, often juggling tasks from multiple providers.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Room patient, document medical history, medications, and drug allergies.
• Prepare patients for examinations and medical tests or procedures. Communicate, observe, report and document patient condition/responses to provider.
• Scribe for provider throughout examination/procedure and assist in EMR documentation.
• Assist provider with surgical procedures, log pathology specimens.
• Prepare results for provider review, set up/stock exam rooms, prepare and process instruments.
• Administer topical, oral or intramuscular medications per orders.
• Create and save lab orders / obtain prior authorizations / setup referrals.
• Provide pre and post procedure medical instructions to patient.
• Conduct patient call backs and notify patients of biopsy results.
• Other duties typically delegated to an accomplished MA and/or as directed by provider or manager.

Requirements for the position:

• At least 5 years of experience as a dermatology MA in an out-patient setting.
• CMA credential is strongly preferred.
• A strong demonstrated work ethic and the willingness to learn and upgrade skills on a continuing basis.
• A commitment to establish and maintain effective working relationships with medical staff, coworkers, managers and the public while delivering exceptional patient care.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
• A high level of attention to detail with the ability to problem solve.
• Dermatology, Family Practice or Plastic Surgery experience are all huge pluses, as is bilingual fluency.
