SUMMARY: The Medical Assistant performs the day to day basic administrative, clerical and technical supportive services for Salinas Pediatric Medical Group, Inc. Responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting the providers with patient care, collecting patient history, assisting in procedures, and laboratory functions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following as well as other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned.
Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned which may include:
1. Checking schedules and organizing patient flow
2. Accompanying patients to exam/procedure room
3. Assisting patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, and preparing for exams
4. Collecting patient history
5. Performing screenings per provider guidelines
6. Assisting providers with various procedures
7. Charting
8. Relaying instructions to patients and their families
9. Answering clinical related calls and providing pertinent information
10. Obtaining laboratory/x-ray reports
11. Obtaining hospital notes
12. Obtaining referral information
13. Completing forms/requisitions as needed
14. Add reports and correspondence into patient files in correct manner and sequence
Fulfills back office responsibilities as assigned which may include:
1. Prepare rooms for daily appointments before and after exam
2. Ensure exam rooms are fully stocked
3. Complete specimen documentation as necessary
4. Follow correct procedures for collating and reviewing patient charts
5. Clean and store equipment after completion of work
6. Perform daily, weekly, monthly Cell-Dyn checks as assigned
7. Reports to Medical Assistant Supervisor any clinical problems, lack of supplies or vaccines
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain a calm demeanor with patients and parents/guardians
- Conduct self in a manner reflecting credit on the practice and providers

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education: Completion of certified Medical Assistant program recognized by the Medical Board of California for Medical Asssistants.
Skill Requirements: Knowledge of Medical Terminology. Ability to write legibly, spell correctly and perform basic mathematics.
Licensing Requirements: Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret letters, insurance forms, and procedures. Ability to use appropriate grammar and spelling. Bilingual ( English and Spanish) is preferred.
REASONING ABILITY
