Position Focus:
The Media Technician 3 provides audio-visual support services for University classes and special events, including equipment set up, operation, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and repairs. Supports film screenings by operating 16mm, 35mm, and DCP projectors with most film screening events supported during evenings and weekends.
Essential Duties
1. Serves as a principal source of information to faculty, students and support staff on standardized and specialized media production techniques and equipment operation. 2. Explains and describes the use and operation of video equipment and editing techniques through classroom lectures and in response to inquiries. 3. Plans and schedules video productions. 4. Operates specialized and standardized video camera, editing, and duplicating systems. 5. Conducts research related to video productions. 6. Maintains and repairs specialized and standardized video equipment. 7. Oversees and instructs support staff in the use and operation of media equipment. 8. Performs additional functions incidental to Media Technician activities.
Required Education and Experience
Six years of related work experience, four of them in the same job family at the next lower level, and high school level education; or four years of related work experience and an Associate's degree; or little or no work experience and a Bachelor's degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
Required Skill/Ability 1:
Knowledge of audio-visual systems design and engineering practices.
Required Skill/Ability 2:
Demonstrated ability with the installation, configuration and troubleshooting of AV systems.
