Med Tech/NA/PCA

QUALIFICATIONS: The Pigeon Valley/Arrowhead Cove Med Tech/NA/PCA works under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse. You will be responsible for the direct care of the residents receiving care at Pigeon Valley and/or Arrowhead Cove, and to provide a safe environment. Must have a genuine interest in the elderly, chronically and terminally ill residents. Patience and tact in dealing with people a must. Must perform simple repetitive tasks willingly, some involving unpleasant conditions. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions. Keep a neat appearance, following dress code in employee handbook. Be pleasant and courteous at all times.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Good physical and mental health required. Sits, stands, walks, stoops, turns, reaches, bends all day/shift.
• Manual dexterity needed for handling equipment.
• Must possess sight/hearing senses (or use prosthetics) to meet job requirements.
• May be required to lift residents, equipment or supplies.
• Must be able to speak English in an understandable manner.

PURPOSE OF JOB POSITION: The primary purpose of your job is to provide direct care to the residents of Pigeon Valley in a kind and safe manner. Must work closely with other personnel and other departments. As a Pigeon Valley/Arrowhead Cove Med Tech/NA/PCA, you will spend more time with the residents than any other employee. This gives you the opportunity to get to know them and their families. Your observation of the residents provides valuable information for the rest of the health care team. Our residents depend on you to be their eyes, ears, hands, legs, and feet. At times, you are a substitute family or the only “family” they have. This job description is NOT all-inclusive, but is meant as a guideline to what is expected of you in your position.

MAJOR DUTIES:

1. Assist residents with personal care as needed.
2. If Med Aide, administer medications as required.
3. If Med Aide, order all medications from Pharmacy as needed.
4. If Med Aide, contact families and RPs with new orders in absence of RN Manager.
5. Take TPRs and other vitals as needed.
6. Complete all documentation in PCC in a timely and professional manner.
7. Assist in Dining Room with set-up, serving, and cleaning after each meal.
8. Complete detailed miscellaneous cleaning of general closets, drawers, cupboards, and refrigerator as assigned.
9. Complete all required charting/24-hour notes in a timely fashion.
10. Provide on-coming shift with detailed report of previous shift’s activities.
11. Assist with light dusting of residents’ rooms.
12. Perform light housekeeping duties in the absence of a Housekeeper.
13. Complete office duties such as filing and shredding as requested.
14. Answer all call signals in a timely fashion.
15. Provide and respect resident’s privacy.
16. All other duties as deemed necessary by the Supervisor and/or Administrator.
