Position Summary

STOBER is expanding our strategic footprint in electric automation in order to continue to serve our customers with best-in-class solutions. The higher vertical integration in design and manufacturing around the entire system of gearbox, motors and controllers, will ensure a perfect support to our customers along their entire system design, integration and commissioning. This expansion requires us to hire a Mechatronics and Electrical Engineer with expertise in motion control software and electronics, along with a complete understanding of design of machines. More importantly, this new hire will be a leader, a subject matter expert, a communicator, a collaborator, and a teacher. They will be someone who will bring us forward in this critical area for the future of Stober. This position will be part of the Product Management team and work across the organization and customer base.


Situation Overview


This is a new position for Stober and a key central position to enable our organization to learn, develop, execute, and grow our expanded footprint. In this position, you will interact collaboratively with all areas of Stober; supported by a company that is exceptionally well-run, has a successful culture, high quality employees, caring leadership, technical strength, low employee turnover, and has a reputation for the highest quality products, systems, and services in our industry. You will be actively involved in the business strategy and business planning of this new growth area and the role will allow for a rich and diverse scope of work touching on all dimensions of strategy and finance, sales and marketing, product management and design, engineering, and operations, after-sales and technical support.

Position Responsibilities and Expectations


  • Work in a safe manner 100% of the time.
  • Set a positive example of performance, responsibility, tact, and professionalism.
  • Will become the subject matter expert on all STOBER electric automation products and programming tools.
    • Assist customers in determining product failures, evaluations, and replacement units.
    • Support Service with customer issues.
    • Perform field service and field commissioning of STOBER electronic products.
  • Continuously develop, apply, and train others on depth of knowledge in mechatronics systems.
    • Attend trade shows and other industry events to stay apprised of current technologies.
    • Develop and deliver training materials for drive electronics, programming tools, and communication protocols to audiences at all levels of experience.
    • Establish and maintain a mechatronics training lab.
    • Identify and mentor new mechatronics trainees or apprentices and other STOBER employees.
  • Execution of tasks/duties related to the operation and programming of mechatronic equipment.
    • Integration of STOBER and 3rd Party Components in tandem with STOBER Motors.
    • Conduct mechanical and electrical calculations utilizing STOBER and 3rd party tools.
    • Read and interpret motor manuals and electrical schematics.
    • Develop and apply knowledge of equipment communication protocols.
  • Examine customer machines and understand their fundamentals of operation.
    • Study 3rd party motion control programming and adapt the programming to STOBER electronics.
    • Specify and integrate STOBER electronics onto 3rd party machinery to meet customer designs.
  • Travel required up to 25%.
    • STOBER electrical automation training will take place in Germany.

Education

  • BSEE, BSME, BSCS, or related degree (industrial technology, etc.) preferred.
  • Experience with servo motors, motion controllers, PLC’s, and HMI’s.
  • Experience with design and/or operation of machines.
  • Ability to train audiences at all levels of experience.

Compensation


Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience and capabilities.
