Job Description


The hydronics product management team is seeking a Mechanical Engineering student who is curious, driven, and passionate about climate-friendly products. This position will directly support technical writing, engineering product quality, and project management functions.

The internship:

Gain hands-on experience in technical writing - installation manuals, troubleshooting and service guides, flow charts, exploded views, and engineering submittal sheets. Key responsibilities include:

  • Work directly with the lead technical writer to learn our documentation process.
  • Use knowledge about thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, technical writing, and machine elements to create, review, and edit product documentation.

Gain hands-on experience interpreting product behavior and logic by testing water heater and boiler products in a test bench setting. Key responsibilities would include:

  • Independently develop a testing plan.
  • Acquire data through a data acquisition system.
  • Perform data analysis and create visual representations of the analyses & present them to the team.
  • Assist engineering product quality, after sales, and quality management departments with troubleshooting water heaters & boilers. Assist in creating advanced technical resources (print & digital).

Gain hands-on experience in project management by learning project management skills, tools, and methodologies and how to apply them professionally. Key responsibilities include:

  • Will work directly with the project manager responsible for standardizing the organization’s technical resource portfolio (print & digital).
    • Water heaters & Boilers – independently manage assigned sub-projects through the project lifecycle.
    • Understand & gather requirements by collaborating with colleagues from other departments.
    • Create, organize, monitor, and update relevant project files: project charter, project management plan, Gantt chart, and status reports.
    • Lead the coordination & execution of tasks & deliverables.
    • Monitor & track resources, schedule & costs in MS Project.
    • Define, monitor & track project risks, requirements realization & benefits realization.
    • Present project status to the project sponsor and relevant stakeholders periodically at review meetings.

Qualifications


Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled at an accredited university and is actively pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Demonstrated knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, technical writing, and machine elements with proven academic performance and/or real-world experience.
  • Must be able to work 40 hours per week (Monday - Friday), hybrid (in-person and remote based on team needs and in office days).
  • Ability to interface with international, cross-functional and customer teams, including flexible work schedule, as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Adobe (InDesign), video editing, and/or data visualization software.

Additional Information


Please note that we would like availability for a 6 month Internship, ideally running 06/2024-12/2024. This position is a hybrid position with our Londonderry, NH office. Ability to commute to the Watertown, MA office occasionally is preferred.

Must be authorized to work in the U.S without company Visa sponsorship. Only local candidates will be considered. No relocation available.
