The Mechanical Engineering Intern for Metal Finishing Technologies will be under the direction of the Process Engineering Manager and responsible for participating and leading key Plant improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment.

Our intern students are given pertinent work assignments and have opportunities to work independently in our facility. We believe strongly in the learning aspect of the work assignment and pair all of our intern students with a coach/mentor.

* MFT is an ITAR (International Traffic in Arms) regulated facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Reviews project instructions and blueprints to determine test specifications, procedures, objectives, test equipment, nature of technical problems, and possible solutions such as process redesign, substitution of material or parts, or rearrangement/adjustment of process steps.

· Identifies and Performs Root Cause and Corrective Action to key business challenges.

· Devises, fabricates, and assembles new or modified mechanical, electrical, or electromechanical components or assemblies and measuring instruments.

· Sets up and conducts tests of parts and components under operational conditions to investigate design proposals for improving process performance or other factors, or to obtain data for development, standardization, and quality control.

· Analyzes indicated and calculated test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives, and modifies or adjusts processes to meet specifications.

· May, on occasion, be required to perform other duties as necessary to ensure efficient plant operations.

Educational Requirements/Qualifications:

· Must be a currently enrolled student majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or Industrial Engineering and having completed at least the sophomore year of college

· Must be capable to support a minimum of 15-20 hour work week if working while completing school

· Cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a scale of 4.0

· Will be interacting with production, maintenance, vendors, contractors, management, and engineering.

· Occasionally involved in presentations and providing training for plant personnel.

· Must have good problem solving skills both from a troubleshooting and project planning standpoint.

· Previous Manufacturing experience is a plus
