Job description

Rydberg Technologies is at the forefront of quantum technology and product development for the design and manufacture of advanced optical hardware, integrated atomic quantum devices, and photonics systems. Our products serve critical applications in position, navigation, and timing (PNT), secure RF communications, surveillance, test and measurement, and metrology.

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Product Engineering and design team. This role involves a wide range of engineering tasks supporting the design, fabrication, and manufacturing of quantum and photonic technology components and systems. As a member of our cross-disciplinary team, you will contribute to cutting-edge projects in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and fabricate glass cells, optomechanics, and components for optical and fiber optic systems.
  • Perform precision assembly and quality assurance testing of quantum devices and photonics systems.
  • Develop and automate hardware controls, 
  • Engage in hands-on tasks including glass fusing, bonding, and handling of delicate equipment and materials.
  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers to ensure timely completion of projects and adherence to technical specifications.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science or Masters in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in product design, engineering, and manufacturing.
  • Expert in CAD and SolidWorks for Mechanical Engineering design.
  • Experience with COMSOL or similar simulation tools highly perferred.
  • Experience with programming languages such as LabView, Python, and C is highly beneficial.
  • Strong capability in both analog and digital electronics.
  • Comfortable working in a laboratory environment and handling delicate materials.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with coworkers and external collaborators.
  • Self-motivated, meticulous, and detail-oriented with a high level of organization and planning skills.
