The Job:
FCI is in search of a Mechanical Engineer for our Aerospace Division. This position will be responsible for the design, documentation and qualification of new Aerospace sensor products as well as providing production support for new and existing products.  Activities include managing projects, interfacing with customers, creation of engineering drawings, conducting operational and/or functional performance tests, sustaining engineering, and streamlining the production process.

  • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in aerospace engineering, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to producing high-quality work.

Here are some examples of day-to-day duties:
 
  • Design of products to meet the technical, schedule, budget, and product cost requirements.
  • Design parts, assemblies, manufacturing processes and create BOMs.
  • Maintain a current MS Project schedule and actively utilize it to drive tasks to completion along the critical path.
  • Interface with the customers and maintain a professional dialogue while providing updates and support.
  • Leverage supporting disciplines to ensure tasks are completed to plan.
  • Coordinate and conduct qualification testing, analyzing test data and writing formal test procedures and reports.
  • Ensure rapid closure of failures and recommend recovery plans.
  • Provide production support as necessary and engage in streamlining production processes.
  • Research requirements and analyze data, such as customer specifications to determine feasibility of design. 
  • Select or design appropriate test tools to facilitate testing and simplify manufacturing processes.
  • Become a subject matter expert (SME) on certain product lines.
     
The following experience, education, and qualifications are required to hold this position:
 
  • BSME with 3 or more years of experience in aerospace or an industrial environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of Solidworks.
  • Ability to multitask and drive tasks to closure in a timely manner.
  • Ability to develop good technical writing and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic electrical knowledge is a plus.
  • Must meet ITAR requirements.
