Rotex is looking for a (Mechanical) Technical Service Engineer to join our team in Cincinnati. As a Technical Service Engineer, you will be the primary global resource for supporting customer field issues that go beyond the capabilities of field service technicians and require engineering analysis. Internally, this person will work closely with the field service technicians, service manager, and the engineering group for support as needed. They will also interact regularly with customers to collect data and troubleshoot issues; this will primarily be performed remotely via telephone, email, and online meetings, though travel to customer sites will be required on occasion. In addition, this person will also work on various technical written communications including IOM manuals, field repair instructions, and other technical bulletins.

What you’ll do:
  • Engineer solutions for short- and long-term field issues. Collaborate with customers, sales, engineering, and manufacturing teams, along with third-party contractors, to resolve technical issues.
  • Troubleshoot machine downtime, and recommend parts, service, and design solutions to improve machine uptime, maintenance, and operation.
  • Preparation, development, and delivery of technical documents for internal and external use. Includes presenting technical information to customers.
  • Develop and model solutions utilizing 2D/3D design software.
  • Perform and understand results of basic Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Demonstrate full competency in one or more engineering areas including, but not limited to, statics/dynamics, high cycle fatigue, manufacturing processes, and previously mentioned software tools.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering discipline; and a minimum of 3-5 years related work experience in manufacturing/fabrication environment and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with an emphasis in product design/development.
  • Sound knowledge in product design, technical writing, and manufacturing techniques.
  • Strong skills in 2D/3D modeling (Solidworks and Autocad preferred), simulation and ERP software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • High problem-solving aptitude. Strategic thinker that is technical, collaborative, and resourceful.
  • Decent business acumen.
  • Oral Communication - Speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; Participate in meetings.
  • Written Communication - Write clearly and informatively, Present numerical data effectively.

  • Analytical and Decisive: Uses logic and insight to solve difficult problems and create effective solutions; uncovers hidden problems; is excellent at analysis; looks beyond the obvious and seeks root cause of problems; makes decisions in a timely manner.
  • Ability to travel 10-15% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Microsoft CRM preferred.
  • Beginner-intermediate knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Good working knowledge of project management techniques.
