Job Description
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for design, fabrication and test of new electro-mechanical product designs, along with supporting current products through their product lifecycle. The Mechanical Engineer will support design activity by direct contribution and in conjunction with internal/external designers. Designs are expected to follow current best practices for DFM, DFT, and reliability/quality (including adherence to relevant safety/regulatory/certification requirements). This person will be a key member of the Technology team. The successful candidate should be passionate about technology, new ideas and always willing to learn new things.
Requirements and Skills:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant experience
- Ability to build prototypes and conduct system level testing as needed
- Ability to manage project objectives and meet timelines in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with subtractive and additive fabrication processes
- At least 3 years of hands-on design and development experience
- Previous experience designing hydraulics systems is a plus
- Familiarity with mechanical system design, fabrication and tools
- Proven knowledge using 3D CAD software; experience with SolidWorks is a plus
- Specify and select necessary components and manage vendors
- Proficient with MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint
- Good oral and written communication
- Attention to detail
Responsibilities:
- Create 3D models and 2D drawings of products using CAD
- Perform physical testing on engineering prototypes
- Research new product ideas and methods
- Improve existing products and processes
- Ensure compliance with the industry’s safety standards
- Maintain accurate records
- Find creative design solutions to problems
- Specify and select necessary components; manage vendors
- Adhere to best practices for documentation and version control
