Job Description
- Spearhead value engineering projects with Mechanical Engineering focus.
- Support material scientist, composite structural engineer and product management to develop next generation laminate and cost-effective process.
- Conduct FEA on new and existing products, interpretate the results and provide guidance for product design development and improvement.
- Develop design concept and create detail design drawings.
- Integrate GD&T principles into engineering drawings and maintain accurate records of design change.
- Build prototypes, define validation criteria, write test plan and design/build test equipment as needed.
- Conduct validate test, in lab and in installation field.
- Collect and analyze test data, draw conclusions, and write test report.
- Maintain and update BOM and validation documents, ensure compliance with both internal and external regulations and protocols.
- Assist project implementation at production floors.
- Create SOP and conduct training for adaption of design and process change in production.
- Research and development of new equipment (such as automation technology) to improve the productivity and material utilization.
- Identify and escalate opportunities for improvement of cost productivity to management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years of experience in composite structural design and analysis.
- Proficient with SolidWorks 3D modeling, PDM, GD&T etc. design tools.
- FEA modeling and analysis experience (ANSYS, NX Nastran preferred but not necessary), as well as applying hand calculations/handbook methods where appropriate.
- Strong understanding of structural analysis, failure modes of composite structures, how to set up structural analysis methods to ensure failure modes are clearly understood and margin to failure is quantified.
- Be comfortable developing test procedure and conducting structural testing, interpretate the results, and correlate with product performance.
- A hands-on ability to build and try new ideas.

- Knowledge of fiberglass/epoxy composite material and manufacturing process -Preferred
- Bilingual (Spanish and English) - Preferred
- Up to 20% overnight travel can be expected.
