The Mechanical Drafter at Aqua-Chem is responsible for preparing and maintaining drawings using conventional drafting techniques, as well as a working knowledge of drafting and manufacturing systems and processes.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm
Location: On-site; Knoxville, TN

Essential Duties:
- Prepares and maintains detailed drawings of moderate difficulty to support senior designer/drafters and engineers.
- Prepares and maintains some layout drawings of limited difficulty to establish final details of sub-components.
- Selects appropriate templates and other equipment needed to complete assignments.
- Generates drawings with complete Bills of Materials.
- Calculates dimensions and specifies standard allowances when not stated.
- Recognizes the need for computer design system changes and the direction of skilled drafters/assists in making custom changes.
- Generates files to support manufacturing, machining, and cutting of components.
- Generates Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID) for various systems.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education Required:
- Associate’s Degree in a designer/drafting related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
Experience Required:
- Two (2) years or more experience with design/drafting of process equipment or relevant experience
- Experience with SolidWorks in both 3D modeling and 2D drawings. Experience with FEA computations and AutoCAD Inventor a plus.
- Experience with reading and understanding Process & Instrument Diagrams
- Work requires some active physical exertion when working on the shop floor and detailing as built drawings.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products and other application software with the ability to learn additional application software when required
Physical Skill and Effort:
- Work requires accurate and coordinated manual skills. Work requires mostly moderate physical exertion.
