Mechanical Design Engineer

Summary:

The Mechanical Design Engineer will analyze and design products and solutions for mechanical devices, develop and test prototypes of designs.  Analyze the test results and change the design as needed.  Grow into responsibility for design, ownership, and growth of a product line.  Accountable to internal customers (operations/machine/customer service) as well as the end customer (machine user). 

Essential Functions:

• Engages in company values of Passion, Accountability, Customer Service and Teamwork
• Analyze and create conceptual designs, using statics, material strengths, machine component design and computer-aided systems.
• Provide technical support for sales, service, manufacturing, and development.
• Provide detailed, hands-on machine design.
• Provide solutions from conceptualization through customer installation.
• Define, measure, analyze, improve, and control designs.
• Collaborate with departments throughout the product development process.
• Accountable to complete project; process and troubleshoot assignments.
• Keep supervisor abreast of any project updates or concerns.
• Recommend methods, materials and layouts for on-going process and product improvements.
• Maintain knowledge of technology upgrades, industry trends and engineering resources.
• Participate in EMT engineering educational/training programs.
• Define and document EMT and Rotocontrol products per EMT standards.
• Document new design setups for communication to internal customers.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
• Perform other job-related duties as requested or assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
• 5 years’ experience, OEM manufacturing experience preferred.
• Digital web handling experience is highly desired, along with PLC & Servo experience (cams, profiling, register control). 
• 3D CAD fluency required (Autodesk Inventor/Vault preferred).
• Experience - printing & processing equipment, packaging machinery, or machine tools, or ability to acquire knowledge.
• Demonstrated project completion experience and ownership.
• Demonstrated project completion experience, ownership with continuous improvement mindset.
• Team player, ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong listening skills and strong sense of ownership and accountability.
• Demonstrated customer focus experience and can-do attitude.
• Ability to provide an honest, concise verbal and written communication.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
